manō buddhi ahankāra citāni nāham
na cha shrōtra-jihve na cha ghārāNa netre
na cha vyōma bhūumir na tejo na vāyuh
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I am neither the mind, nor the intellect, nor the ego, nor the ultra-conscious;
I am neither the ears, nor the skin, nor the nose, nor the eyes,
Nor am I the space, the earth, the fire, the air,
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss,
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
NB: 1. antha karaNa – the psychic faculties consists of 1. mana – the mind, 2. buddhi – the intellect, 3. ahankār – the sense of individuation and 4. citta – the ultra conscious.
NB: 2. Jnānēndriya – the instruments of sensorium consists of 1. shrōtra – the ears, 2. jihva or singnguvai – the tongue, 3. tvāk – the skin, 4. nētra or chadshu – the eyes, and 5. āghrāNa – the nose.
NB: 3. pancha bhootha – the five gross elements consists of 1. vyōma – space or ether, 2. vāyu – the air, 3. tēju – the fire, 4. appu – the water and 5. bhūmi – the earth.
na cha prāNa sangyō na vai pancha vāyuhu
na va sapta dhātur na va pancha kōshah
na vāk pāNi-pādam na chōpastha pāyu
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I am neither the breath, nor the five vital airs,
I am neither the seven humours of the body, nor the five sheaths of it,
Neither am I the organs of action nor that of senses,
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss,
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
NB: 1. Pancha prāNa – the five vitals consists of 1. prāNa – the breath, 2. apāna – the downward force of expulsion and excretion, 3. vyāna – the force of absorption and distribution, 4. udhāna – the upward force of expulsion and that of speech and 5.sāmana – the force of equilibrium.
NB: 2. Sabta dhātu – the seven humours(constituents) of the body are 1.rasa – the lymph, 2. māmsa – the muscle, 3. rakta – the blood, 4. mēdha – the fat 5.asthi – the bone, 6. majja – the marrow and 7. sukla – the semen.
NB: 3. Karmēndriyās – the instruments of motorium are 1. pāNi – the hands, the organ of exchange, 2. pāda – the legs, the organ of locomotion, 3. vāk – the tongue, the organ of communication, 4. upastha – genitals, the organ of copulation and 5. pāyu – the rectum, the excretory organ.
NB: 4. Pancha kōshas – the five sheaths (bodies) of the soul are 1. anna māyā kōsha – the gross body, 2. prāNa māyā kōsha – the vital body, within and beyond the gross body, 3. mano māyā kōsha – the psychic body, within and beyond the vital body, 4. vijgnana māyā kōsha – the intellectual body, within and beyond the psychic body and 5. ānanda māyā kōsha – the causal body, within and beyond the intellectual body.
na me dvesha rāgau na me lōbha mōhau
madō naiva me naiva mātsarya bhāvah
na dharmō na cha-artho na kāmo na mōkshaha
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I have neither likes nor dislikes, neither greed nor delusion,
Neither pride nor envy or the four goals of life
I am neither desire nor objects of desire,
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss,
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
NB: 1. Six blemishes are 1. kōpa – the anger 2. krōta – the grudge 3. lōbha – the stinchiness 4. mōha – the lust 5. madha – the pride, and 6. mātsarya – the envy.
NB: 2. Four goals of life are 1. dharma – the righteous way 2. artha – the resource management 3. kāma – the enjoyment of love and pleasures and 4. mōksha – the spiritual liberation.
na punyam na pāpam na saukhyam na duhkham
na mantrō na tirtham na vedā na yajnah
aham bhōjanam naiva bhōjyam na bhōktā
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I need no virtue or sin, no pleasure or pain,
I need no Mantrās nor worship, no temples or scriptures,
I am not the enjoyment, enjoyable or the enjoyer
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss,
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
NB: tri-pudi- jnāna is the relinquishment of the distinguished triple perception of the world as jnāna – the perception (seen), jnēya -the perceptible object (sight) and jnāthiru – the preceptor (seer).
na me mrtyu shankā na me-jāti bhedah
pita naiva me naiva mātā na janmah
na bandhur na mitram gurur naiva shishyah
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I have neither death; nor fear of death, nor caste or creed,
I have neither father, nor mother, Nor was I ever born,
I have neither relations, nor friends, I have neither Guru, nor disciple,
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss,
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
aham nirvikalpō nirākāra rūpō
vibhut vatcha sarvatra sarvendri-yānām
na cha sāngatham naiva muktir na meyah
chid-ānanda rūpah shivōham shivōham.
I am untouched by the senses; I am neither Mukti nor knowable;
I am without form, without limit, beyond space, beyond time;
I am in everything, the basis of everything, everywhere am I;
I am the form of Absolute Consciousness, Absolute Bliss;
I am the Eternal Shiva; I am the Eternal Shiva….
